Next Market This Saturday 8th March!
Stirling Farmers’ Market will be returning to Port Street this Saturday 8th March from 10am till 4pm with around 14 stalls showcasing some of Scotland’s best produce. With Mothers’ Day just around the corner if you’re planning to treat your mums and grans then the market is the perfect place to shop. Whether you’re planning to cook up a Sunday roast or just want to spoil your mum with something sweet, Stirling Farmers’ Market has virtually everything you need with the added benefit of friendly knowledgeable traders who are always happy to advise on recipe ideas, cooking times and even accompaniments. Making a welcome return to Stirling after a winter break will be resident French pastry chef Nicole Bezanger of Nini’s Pastries and her much loved treats. “Stirling was my first ever farmers’ market and it’s still my favourite,” says Nicole. “I was so shy at first but everyone made me feel so welcome - although maybe that was just because they wanted some nice cakes! I have missed being on Port Street these last few months and I’m looking forward to catching up with all the marketgoers and I can’t wait to see what they think of my new Tarte Normande.” Tarte Normande is a delicious French dessert sometimes described as being the lovechild of an apple tart and a crème brûlée. “I make it with caramelised apples, cream, milk, eggs and a soupçon of vanilla,” says Nicole. “The base is pâte brisée – a shortcrust pastry - and it is best served warm, maybe with some vanilla ice cream. I have been testing it on friends and family over winter and they always want second helpings which I think is a good sign!” It’s not just food on offer at the market – if you’re looking for the ideal gift you’ll be able to choose from a range of handmade crafts Also on offer at this week’s market will be fresh fish & shellfish from Arbroath; Ayrshire vegetables; beef, bacon & sausages; cheeses & oatcakes from Arran; sourdough breads and bakery products; free range hens’ & ducks’ eggs; Lebanese & Greek meals & deli products; handmade butter; cakes & patisserie; chutneys & preserves; award winning pies & sausage rolls; and a selection of crafts & gift ideas.
